Ocean and Tidal
DMC WorldWide unveiled at CES six e-reader devices in two lines: Ocean and Tidal. The Ocean line range between 6-inch and 9-inch capacitive touchscreen e-ink displays at 600 by 800-pixel and 768 by 1024-pixel resolutions, respectively, and include 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, an accelerometer and an internal microphone, as well as 3G in some models. The Tidal line is similar on the inside but comes in a curvier body in several colors. Prices range from $199 to $299.

Aluratek's Libre Pro e-reader aims for the budget crowd with a $179 price tag. Instead of using an e-Ink display, it uses a monochrome LCD display to keep costs down. It comes with a 2GB SD card (supports up to 32GB) and supports BMP, JPG, GIF, Adobe DRM, ePUB, PDF, FB2, TXT, Mobi, PRC and RTF formats.

Entourage Edge
Entourage Systems calls its Edge e-reader a "dualbook" because it uses a hinged form factor. It's WiFi-enabled, has 9.7-inch e-ink display and a 10.1-inch LCD screen and offers 200,000 trade books from publishers such as McGraw Hill, John Wiley & Sons and the Oxford University Press. It will cost $490.

iRiver Story
The iRiver Story looks much like the popular Amazon Kindle and will begin shipping to the U.S. in January 2010. The 0.36-inch thick reader offers a 6-inch e-ink display, integrated MP3 player, 2GB of internal memory, SD expansion slot, USB 2.0 connectivity and a battery good for 9,000 page turns. No price available at the time of writing.

Samsung e101
Competing with rival Sony, Samsung entered the e-book reader arena this year with its 6-inch e6 and 10-inch e101 e-readers. The devices use Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to connect and have a unique slide-out button array at the bottom. They are expected to cost a pricey $400 and $700, respectively.

Spring Design Alex eReader
Like the Barnes & Noble Nook, Spring Design's Alex e-reader has two screens -- a top e-Ink screen for reading and a lower, color LCD screen running Google Android. It will be available in February for $359.
